Medicine for the soul.

Poder Boricua

I love being Puerto Rican,
So much joy and culture.
On the island you find yourself;
The ocean has power.
Find your power.

Happiness and unity,
You find your community.
Music to my ears,
The island is loud.
Love, Love, Love
Within the red, white, and *light blue*.

Tradition and ancestry,
The land has power.
Find your power.
Taina de la isla,
Despierta Boricua:
Flaws, corruption, poverty.
Power.

Bomba, Plena, Salsa (Perreo),
We are alive. Together
We are One.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
Feel all the things,
Love and accept.

Help Me Crecer

Mi tierra querida,
Awaiting the message from the trees.
La que me cuida,
She listens and she breathes.
Tu tiene la medicina!
"I am alive and awake, just like you,"
Ella respira.
Por favor, teach me.
I want to bloom from the root too.

Space.

I am stuck in your orbit,

Slowly dismembering my radiance;

Surrounded by,

A void -- your presence,

And mine, together hold space.

How can I yearn,

For something I hold?

Yours Truly,

Paint me a beautiful color,
Cast my body in the design of your wisdom,
Pose my limbs to carry the weight;
The weight of the layers of paint.

Wait.
You forgot my favorite color is purple.
Try again.

Paint me a beautiful color,
Cast my body in the design of your wisdom,
Pose my limbs to carry the weight;
The weight of the layers of pain.

Because you can't seem to get it right.
You keep forgetting what I like;
Left me no choice but to scrape.

Scraping away the magic of your stroke,
Taking back the brushes and the paint.
Tears streaming down, taking up artistic real estate,
Like we have time to waste...

I'm sorry.
Try again.

Paint me a beautiful color,
Cast my body in the design of your wisdom,
Pose my limbs to carry the weight;
The weight of you on my shoulders as you tell me to wait.

You're not ready. You're afraid,
That you will make another mistake.
I've heard this before...
What will it take?

I'm getting heavy, I'm getting tired,
And I'm running out of paint.

I don't know another artist that's willing to create...

So please,

Paint me a beautiful color,
Cast my body in the design of your wisdom,
Pose my limbs to carry the weight;
The weight of my impact when I'm on display.

Is it too late?

Yours Truly,
Your Canvas
